Renée Elise Goldsberry raps for Broadway Cares at Jonathan Groff's Last Hamilton Performance
Hamilton’s Renée Elise Goldsberry shared an original rap to help raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS during this year’s Easter Bonnet Competition fundraising. Joined onstage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre by fellow Schuyler sisters Phillipa Soo and Jasmine Cephas Jones, Renée masterfully worked in details about the support Broadway Cares provides across the country and for Graham Windham, the orphanage started by the real-life Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton and supported in part by the fundraising. Through the spirited rap, they told the audience about the lifesaving work of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, as well as Graham Windham, the orphanage started by the real life Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton and supported in part by BC/EFA's fundraising. Recorded on Saturday, April 9, the rap concludes with Renée and the cast congratulating original cast member Jonathan Groff on his final performance as King George III. Many thanks to Renée, Jonathan, the cast of Hamilton, the stage managers and the entire crew and front-of-house staff for enthusiastically giving of their time and talents. Broadway Cares is the major supporter of the social service programs at The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative and the Al Hirschfeld Free Health Clinic, and awards annual grants to more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations in all 50 states.
